Dr. Steven L. Heffner has been a Board Certified Chiropractic Physician licensed
in the state of Pennsylvania for 28 years. He finished his diplomate training
in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) in 1997. Dr. Heffner is the director
of spinal rehabilitation and work hardening at the Laurel Health System in
Wellsboro,
PA. He is a contributing author concerning MDT of the spine in four separate
spinal rehabilitation clinical textbooks. Steve is the current Chairperson
of the MIUSA Board of Directors.
Ron Schenk, PT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT Cert. MDT - Vice

Ron Schenk is Dean of the Division of Health and Human Services and
an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at Daemen College in Amherst, NY.
Dr. Schenk is also Director of the Daemen College Fellowship Program in Orthopaedic
Manual Physical Therapy and the Fellowship Program in Mechanical Diagnosis and
Therapy, both of which are credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. Schenk earned his BS degree in Physical Therapy and MS
degree in Sportsmedicine from Ithaca College. He completed a residency program
in orthopaedic manual physical therapy through the Gulf Coast Graduate Physical
Therapy Institute and earned his PhD from the University at Buffalo. He is
credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy through the McKenzie Institute
(Cert. MDT), and has completed the course sequence in Diagnosis and Treatment
of Muscle Imbalances through Dr. Shirley Sahrmann.
Dr. Schenk is an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist with the
Catholic Health System of Buffalo, NY. He has published his clinical research
in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international conferences.
Dr. Schenk is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Manual
and Manipulative Therapy, Secretary of the McKenzie Institute, USA and is active
in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, an organization
for which he has served as Secretary and Vice-President.

Bob is a management consultant specializing in organization development,
human resources, change management and strategy implementation. He helps
clients achieve great results by improving performance and return on people.
He has
16 years senior executive experience in manufacturing, broadband-high speed
internet and financial services organizations. Bob has over 12 years consulting
experience. His clients have included organizations such as Mutual of Omaha,
Wm. Wrigley & Co., Wilson Sporting Goods, Paychex, Adelphia Communications,

Julie Marley, PT, Dip. MDT - Secretary

Julie graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1989 with a Bachelors
of Science and received a Master's of Physical Therapy from the University of
Delaware in 1991. She attained the Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy
in 1996 and became part of the teaching faculty in 1999. Julie currently resides
in Wilmington, Delaware and has a spine practice at the Spine & Orthopedics
Specialists in Newark, Delaware. Julie is currently serving on the MIUSA Board
as Vice Chair.
Stacey A. Lyon

Stacey joined The McKenzie Institute in 1995 as Administrator of the
US Branch. A graduate of Allegheny College (PA) with a Bachelor of Arts in
Theatre, Stacey also minored in Psychology and Sociology. This combination
of study provided a diverse foundation of knowledge to apply to her 25 years
of varied business experience, primarily in social and medical service organizations.
She was formally elected to the Board of Directors in 1998.
Elizabeth Arndt

Liz has over 22 years of experience in creative direction and marketing.
In the past 15 years, Liz has focused on marketing efforts for small to mid size
technology companies. She has also served as Vice President of marketing for
a number of small startup companies that have gone on to receive significant
venture capital funding. Liz ran her own business for over three years working
for
both technology and health care related organizations. Today, Liz runs marketing
campaigns for CD-adapco, an independent CFD-focused provider of engineering simulation
software, support and services.
Scott Herbowy, PT, Dip. MDT

Scott is a graduate of the physical therapy program at State University
of New York at Buffalo. Scott originally attended courses with Robin McKenzie
and completed his diploma in New Zealand in 1992. Appointed a US faculty member
in 1993, an international instructor in 1994 as well as being a diploma tutor
and extremity instructor, he brings a wealth of experience to his teaching.
Scott has participated in and is currently active in research pertaining to
the field
of MDT and maintains clinical practice at St. David's Spine and Sports Therapy
in Austin, TX.
Thomas Masten, MD, Cert. MDT

Dr. Masten completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University
Hospitals of Cleveland in 1983. He became a Fellow of the Society of Orthopaedic
Medicine in 1993 with teaching credentials. He became Credentialed in Mechanical
Diagnosis and Therapy in 1994. He completed his Certificate of Added Qualification
in Sports Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine in 1997.
With special training in precision spine injection techniques, he practiced
a decade
with the Orthopedic Spine Institute becoming an Associate Professor at Upstate
and is now with the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Dept. at Upstate
Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
Hugh Murray, PT, Dip. MDT

Hugh Murray received his degree in Physical Therapy from West Virginia University
in 1976 and attended the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at Kaiser Permanente
Medical Center in Hayward, California in 1979. He received the Diploma in Mechanical
Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute International in 1991 through
the diploma/residency program in New Zealand. Currently, Hugh hides out at
CPT Physical Therapy Specialists, a McKenzie Certified Clinic, in Charleston,
West Virginia. Hugh
was a
Board member and teaching faculty member of the Institute early in its founding
years,
having returned to faculty in 2004. He has served on the Nominating
and Finance Committees of the MIUSA Board and is a past Chairman of the MIUSA
Board. He is now serving as a board member for the US branch. He is Finance
Chair of the International Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy Research Foundation.
He now also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Branch of the McKenzie
Institute International.
Jean Neff, PhD

Jean has been working for the Information Technologies Department at the University
of Delaware for over fifteen years. Six years ago, Jean helped establish the
University's ResNet program and continues to assist with the program's implementation.
She has also been working to develop strategies to help educate University students
about their school's computing policies. Jean recently earned a doctorate in
Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware. Her research includes
examining ways to reduce computing policy violations in an educational setting.
Patrick Pedro

Bucknell University and the University of Notre Dame Law School, and is a partner
in the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC. Patrick is a frequent lecturer
on various legal topics, both to other attorneys and to the general public. He
has also authored a number of articles and primers on legal issues.
Erik van Doorne, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT

Erik van Doorne, PT, DPT, COMT, Cert. MDT, FABS graduated from
the Hanzehogeschool Groningen in the Netherlands with a Bachelors of Science
in Physiotherapy and received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Simmons
College in Boston.
Dr. van Doorne has more than 15 years experience in orthopedic manual therapy,
is a certified orthopedic manual therapist and is credentialed
in Mechanical Diagnosis
and
Therapy
from the
McKenzie
Institute.
He is
a senior editor of SpineUniverse, as well as an internationally recognized
speaker. Currently, Dr. van Doorne is living and working in the Netherlands.
