The McKenzie Institute International Education Program

We are pleased to announce that the structure and content of The McKenzie Institute International Education Program will undergo considerable change in 2011.

The current Part C and Part D courses will be restructured to incorporate the assessment and treatment of the Extremities utilizing McKenzie MDT concepts. The advanced spine material that has been traditionally taught on Part C and D courses will remain. The aim of the change is to introduce MDT for the Extremities earlier in the Institute's Education Program, with the Extremities having become such an integral part of MDT.

Effective January 2011, the Program of Certification will consist of:
Part A

Some Things to Consider
If you have or will have completed Part C prior to 2011, but are unable to complete Part D before the end of 2010, you will have these options:

  • Attend the new Part D course in 2011, as the course will review lower extremity
  • Audit the new Part C before taking the new Part D curriculum
  • Attend Part E before taking the new Part D

Part E will remain an option indefinitely to strengthen knowledge and skills of extremities for anyone who has completed A-D courses before 2011.

As with any transition, we anticipate different circumstances may arise and we will work with you to manage your needs as best we can.

In addition to the curriculum changes, the Board of Directors voted to amend our Eligibility Policy effective 1/1/2011.

The introduction of the MDT Extremity material at Part C and Part D is an exciting development and one that has been requested by many of you. It further emphasizes the strength of MDT as a comprehensive assessment and diagnostic system for the musculoskeletal structures.
