Robin McKenzie Treating Patients on DVD
The first of two DVDs recorded in conjunction
with the McKenzie Institute International Conference in Queenstown, New
Zealand, March 2007 has been released.
The DVD "A
Day with Robin McKenzie - 2 patients and 4 months follow-up" features
two patients from "A Day with Robin McKenzie" chosen for presentation
during the Grand Rounds session of the conference. The Grand Rounds panel
of experts included Prof. Nikolai Bogduk, Prof. Richard Deyo, Dr. Julie
Fritz, Dr. Paul Hodges and Mr. Bruce Hodgson. The DVD features these
two patients relating
their history, undergoing MDT assessment and subsequent instruction in
self-management. The follow-up, recorded four months after their
initial examination, shows the remarkable
transformation and recovery after two years of disability and is clearly
evidenced by the patients' own testimonies.
This DVD will help increase the understanding of MDT and how it is different
from any other treatment, anywhere. The DVD shows what can be achieved
simply by educating the patient to treat themselves - It is already receiving
some excellent feedback.

McKenzie Training is a Prerequisite for Employment
The rheumatology department in a local hospital in Aalborg, Denmark requires applicants for two new physical therapy positions to be McKenzie trained. The rheumatologoy department of the hospital in Denmark has previously implemented McKenzie evaluation and care in the management of patients with disc lesions. The success of this previous use of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy has been reported in Spine (Rasmussen, Nielsen et al 2005). The fact that employers require skills in Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy is an important milestone in the worldwide mission of the McKenzie Institute.

Chiropractic Branch of the McKenzie Institute International
One of the worldwide objectives within the Mission Statement of The McKenzie Institute International is the education of healthcare providers in the principles and practical application of the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).To that end, at a recent meeting of the Board of Trustees, the decision was made that the Institute would establish a Chiropractic Branch to offer the Institute's Education Programme to Doctors of Chiropractic. The Board of Trustees also determined that management of the Branch would be vested with the Institute's Head Office. The Chiropractic Branch was announced by Robin McKenzie at the 7th Biennial Conference of the Chiropractic & Osteopathic College of Australasia, held in Melbourne, Australia, on 8/9 September 2007.Dr. Gary Jacob has been appointed the Institute's Chiropractic Consultant and Dr. Steven Heffner will be the Lead Instructor for the courses.
